Some people have summer houses…..

And apparently Madison has a winter litter box and a summer litter box. When we first moved in Madison was relegated to having her box in the 3rd bedroom because I wasn’t sure how she was going to react to 3 floors and I knew I didn’t want a litter box on the 1st floor. Once we were in the house for about a month I started letting her into the basement because my ultimate goal was to get the litter box moved to the basement for good. So Madison would go into the basement when I was doing laundry and cry when the basement door was shut so she couldn’t get in…

Once the crying started … I opened the door for good and she was basically living in the basement (I guess because it was the coolest place in the house) and the upstairs litter box was abandoned. FF to November and Madison gradually stopped going into the basement… and was once again an upstairs litter box cat.

Imagine my surprise when I was in the basement last weekend and glanced at the litter box …. Lets just say it was ready to be emptied At least the lack of business in the upstairs litter box now made sense

When I first moved in there was about a 10 inch space between the oven and the wall.

A first I didn’t think much of it, but shortly I heard a banging coming from the oven. At first I thought it was something if this variety….but then I figured out it was just Madison.

So I pulled the oven out a little and out she came. Then I stacked a bunch of boxes to block off the opening.

Shortly after that my Mom and I were at Lowes, and found a 9 in cabinet. I bought it , then we ordered a small countertop….used a leftover door handle that my seller left from the original kitchen-remodel….

Ta-Dah!

This is how Madison was spending her time during the times people came to look at my condo. She was in a cat cave, created out of my decorative pillows (that I rarely used before this… ie only when I was having company). So now she is in the habit of sleeping on top of my pillows …or pretty much on top of my head. (Previously she was sleeping kind of next to me). Last night she was snoring!!! (yes my cat snores….)

Madison…. your heart may go on!

#63 – Complete – Trim Madison’s nails once a week for a month.

I adopted Madison about 5 years ago and she is not de-clawed. When I first got her… I could not even imagine trimming her nails myself. I could barely hold a paw! So every few months I would take her to PetSmart to get her nails trimmed. But it got to be a hassle, because getting Madison in her carrier is no fun ( I get to shut us in a bathroom!) then listen to her cry the entire way, over, during, and back.

A few years ago ( since I became able to hold a paw!) I tried trimming myself… it definitely took a while, and I still don’t get them as short as PetSmart (or the Vet!) but its getting done. When I made my list I added “Trimming Madison’s nails once a week” because I knew it needed to be done more that I was doing it. Once a week is overkill. I think I should aim for once a month

The image above is what Madison looks like whenever anyone comes over to my house….she runs and hides… She has done this ever since I got her (about 4.5 years ago!).

Last night I had friends over for pizza and a movie…

About an hour into the movie Madison popped up on the couch! It was surreal…Then she jumped down and walked around the living room. She started rolling around on the floor. She walked around a bit more…. then went back to hiding.

Progress!

The remote is mine!

The best weather bug!

I always know when its raining in the morning (like today!) because Madison is no where to be found (because she is hiding under the bed).

There are 3 points in my morning routine where Madison makes an appearance:

1)When I get out of the shower, she greets me with a Meow!

2) When I go to the kitchen to take my vitamin, she rolls around on the carpet trying to get a tummy rub

3) When I make the bed, she jumps up there angling for more tummy action!

Today… I didn’t see a glimpse of her, so as I was looking around the house and under chairs, when I finally spied her under the bed, I thought “It must be raining!” and yes, it was!

Yesterday Madison went to the Vet for her feline dental cleaning. They didn’t have to pull any teeth so I guess that was good. Afterwards, when we got home, I had to shut her up in a small room for the night. She was still wobbling around and her meowing sounded pitiful .

30 minutes after I put her in the room, and I went back in to give her some food and water… major log in the litter box YAY!

This morning I let her out around 4am …and about 30 minutes later she fell off the bed !

Around 6am she did start purring again

Now for the next week I get to give her antibiotics – twice a day

Update on the Cat Poop situation:

Last night as I was cleaning the litter box, I found the mother of all “logs”, and Madison appears to be back to her peppy self!
