Bullfeathers has always been my go-to for Capitol Hill drinking on a patio when the weather gets nice. But the food always left a lot to be desired. Then last winter new ownership took over……. and they remodeled the entire inside and re-did the menu.

I finally stopped in a few weeks ago after a Nats game for a quick dinner. I got the BLT – Bacon, lettuce tomato, and mayonnaise on toasted salted olive oil ciabatta, served with fries. It was really good. Thick bacon, ciabatta is always good, with fancy presentation… the fries got their own container! (When you don’t like your food to touch…this is always a bonus ).

I stopped in again about a week ago for lunch and got the BLT again (though I was torn between the Tuna Melt and Grilled Cheese). It was good, one minor complaint … the tomato was sliced a little too thick… but I wrote it off as being due to the early time of day, and getting the first slices of the tomato for that day.

Can’t wait to go back… its in the perfect location if you are walking between the Capitol South Metro and Nats Park.

My friend and I went for lunch yesterday. We arrived about 11:50 (thanks to a 10 minute wait for a train… thanks WMATA!). Just as we arrived it seemed like a million other people did too… the line exploded! Luckily we were’t that far back.

The pizzas are all in the display case where you line up and they all looked GOOD. I went with a slice of the Forest Shroomin pie - Wild forest mushrooms, truffles, mozz, fresh thyme. It was ready fairly quickly and tasted great. The crust tasted to me like the crust of Pizza Hut Pan pizza (but even better if that makes sense). My friend ordered wings and he said they were OK.

There is ample seating up stairs (just like Good Stuff… ) and with TVs on the walls.

I have been wanting to try Ted’s Bulletin for a few months, mainly because it’s owned by the same group that brings us Matchbox. I finally wandered in last week for a late lunch.

When you first walk in you are in the bar area and you can either sit at the counter/bar or one of the 3 tables in that section. Otherwise the main restaurant area is in the back. I sat at the bar. I ordered the Chicken Salad sandwich – *Texas toast with hand-cut fries and pickle. It arrived fast and was good, I only wish that I had known it came with tomato so that I could have asked for it to be removed

Ted’s serves breakfast all day and they are big on Adult Milkshakes (I did not try one on this visit…. it gives me a reason to go back ):

Bailey’s Caramel Macchiato
Mocha Kahlua
Grasshopper
White Russian
Pina Colada
Nutty Professor
Tequila Sunrise
Spiked Thai Coffee
Fuzzy Navel
Strawberry Daquiri

I also want to go back and try the Grilled Cheese and Tomato soup.

Looks like another great addition to the Capitol Hill/Eastern Market area!

Last week I was headed home after Happy Hour and decided to stop off at Eastern Market to grab some dinner, the original plan was to hit Matchbox, but after I checked my watch I decided it may be too crowded to get a seat at the bar.

So I headed the other way and ended up at Tunnicliff’s. I had been there once a few years ago so I knew the layout…. small outdoor seating area, long bar against one wall, high tables in front and regular tables, restaurant area in the back (standard rowhome turned into a bar/restaurant seating arrangement).

I camped at the bar, in front of a flat screen TV tuned to MLB. Sam Adams Summer Ale … on Tap!

I ordered a Super Grilled Cheese - american cheese, red onion, tomato and bacon on texas toast & served with fries. Sandwich was cooked well (I had asked then to almost burn it… I like my bread crunchy). Fries were hot and crips also…. Perfect post Happy Hour Dinner
