Prior to last spring I had been to Clyde’s of Gallery Place a grand total of one time…. For a Pre-Pearl Jam concert dinner….
Now that I am averaging one visit to the Verizon Center per week since November, my total visits to Clyde’s has greatly increased… and with good reason.
Clyde’s is right across the alley from one of the “lesser known” entrances to Verizon Center…. so there is rarely a line to get in. They have happy hour specials (at least during the week), until 6pm which lets you get something to eat and get your drink on for a good price.
$6 Appetizers
All raw bar 1/2 off
$10 crab cake sandwiches
$7 burgers
$2 Pabst Blue Ribbon (can)
$3 Miller Lite drafts
$4 Yeungling drafts
I’ve tried the crab cake, burger, and (though not on the happy hour menu) Grilled Cheese (AWESOME)…. all served with fries.
My personal favorites (aka I’ve ordered them on multiple occasions):
Steamed Mussels
beer, chorizo sausage, leeks, herbs and garlic crostini
Sesame Seared Tuna
seared rare, daikon, carrots, peppers, sesame greens, pickled ginger and wasabi aioli
Shrimps from the Raw Bar
Service is always great, food comes out fast and always prepared perfectly….. You can’t go wrong with a visit to Clyde’s of Gallery Place (especially before a Caps game
)

[...] A friend mentioned this place back in December when we were looking for a place for dinner, prior to a Caps game (of course ). We planned to check it out…. But when I went to open the door, it appeared to be locked. Odd (this was around 5pm…). So I continued on to Clydes. [...]
