Last Weekend my girlfriends and I had planned our yearly Holiday Extravaganza Dinner (January usually works better than December… too much already going on during actual Holidays). This year we were heading to Baltimore…. planning to eat at Talara (and see a movie beforehand).
I say planning to eat at Talara, because when we arrived the joint was jumping (aka packed), but they had lost our reservation (they don’t use OpenTable)…. It was 7pm… they said they wouldn’t be able to seat us until at least 9pm! Um no. But they did give us a hefty gift certificate for our trouble (we will be back!)
We set out to walk around the area… there are a bunch of restaurants in close proximity….But 7pm… on a Saturday night… when most restaurants were still running Restaurant Week promos… we knew we were hoping for a miracle.
We decided on Roy’s … I think they said an hour wait (at least) but we could eat at the bar…. and we got lucky… a party at the bar was leaving so we snagged their seats!!
First up… picking a drink
I went with the – Cucumber Cilantro Margarita – Milagro Tequila hand-shaken with fresh cool cucumber, cilantro, fresh lime juice and Monin pure agave nectar… and it did not disappoint.
Next up food… Roy’s was running Restaurant Week…..so that’s what we decided to do…
I went with – 1)Shrimp Lumpia – Chinese black bean dragon sauce
2) Tender Braised Beef Short Ribs – Creamy mashed potatoes, natural braising sauce … Mashed Potatoes… sooooo good! So happy I didn’t live through the potato famine … I would have died
Dessert - Flourless Chocolate Torte – Served a la mode and raspberry sauce – Not a HUGE chocolate fan but I love me some torte.
Roy’s is a chain… they also do Sushi…. and I saw some dude order a Surf and Turf, where the lobster tail looked amazing………
If you find yourself in Fells Point/Harbor East… Go to Roy’s you won’t be disappointed !!

[...] My friends and I attempted to dine at Talara back at the end of January…. however we we arrived at the restaurant for our 7pm reservation…. we discovered they had no record of it (Can you believe they don’t use OpenTable??) Since it was 7pm… on a Saturday night… while Restaurant Week menus were still in effect… they had no where to squeeze us in….but in true Make Lemons…. spirit… they gave us a hefty gift certificate to use on a future visit (We ended up at Roy’s that night and had a great time.)
