Decided to try something new before Saturday’s Caps game…. Since I’ve never had Dim Sum (and probably since it was the topic of this week’s TopChef challenge) my friend and I landed at Ping Pong….
We made a 5pm reservation, though it was not needed. The space is large and open (with some large tables for big parties) and a bar area. It was less than half filled. We ended up on the bar side so that we could get happy hour prices on drinks and dim sum. Yay for a deal!
We ordered and the food started coming out pretty quickly…. but our Mojitos took over 20 minutes and were heavy on ice…. (i ordered a ShockTop for 2nd round…. thinking it should only take 2 minutes max to pour a beer… and I was right!)
The Dim Sum was good for the most part….
Chive Dumplings… these were great!
Scallop and Shiitake Dumplings… awesome too!
Pork Puffs. YUM
Prawn Toast (in the front) and Chicken & Black Pepper Spring Roll (in the back) – Prawn Toast was blah, but the Spring rolls rocked!
I would go back, but only to sit at the bar during happy hour…. the service with the drinks was kind of a downer…. since it also took a crazy amount of time to get water re-fills….
