Capspocalypse....

After last season’s playoff flameout… many were saying the Caps had too easy of a time during the regular season.  Some adversity during the regular season would be good.  People started saying they hoped the Caps entered the playoffs seeded around 3/4.

Well.  About 1/3 of the way thru the season…..  Here we are.

October was a rough start (play-wise) and most people can agree the Caps record for that month was as good as it was due to Nuevy’s awesome goaltending.  November seemed to be a turning point where things started clicking… Varly came back from his groin injury, Semin (aka Mr Hat Trick) was on fire…

But then ATL shut out the Caps on the 19th and Kovalchucklegate on the 22nd seemed to be a brief hiccup once the Caps beat Carolina and Tampa Bay at home to close out the month…

Welcome to December.  Caps are 1-6 in December and on a 6 games losing skid….though they are somehow still leading their division and Semin is still the 3rd leading goal scorer in the NHL.

What needs to be fixed?  Who knows. Some are blaming the flu, some the injuries to the Defense (notably Schultz and Green – though no one really knows whats up with Green – could  be injury or flu).

Boudreau keeps saying the Caps are feeling sorry for themselves, there may be a confidence problem…

You can tell the players are getting frustrated.  I was at last Thursday’s game against Florida and watched Semin come off the ice at the end of a shift and bang his stick against the bench and then throw it.  Saturday night he reached his boiling point when he cross-checked John-Michael Liles and was tossed from the game and subsequently fined.  Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse………

It does just that.

Shut-out 0-7 at MSG .  Ovi fights!  My favorite Caps blog has declared they are going dark until the Caps win again….

Will we ever see this again?

Of course we will.  The only question is …. When?
