So I actually created this list about 2 years ago… and I think I was scraping for things to add by the time I hit 83. I had actually been to a Caps hockey game waaaaaaaaay back in 1997 or 1998. We sat in nose bleeds and I don’t really remember much about the game. I was still living in Baltimore at the time and barely knew who CAPS were (I did have an awesome Skipjacks plastic cup…. that had somehow found its way into our house).
I’ve always liked hockey… as in I found it way more watchable than Football (vomit) or Basketball (um… only the last 2 minutes are really important)…. but it could never compare to my first love …. Baseball (Lazy afternoon at the ballpark… yes please 
)
So I think Winter 2009-2010 was the perfect storm that roped me in. Snowed in for more time than I ever want to have to deal with again, Approaching Olympics, and a local team that was in the midst of a winning streak. Aside from some late night Curling action…. Hockey was the only Olympic Sport that I watched. The Ovechkin hit on Jagr sealed the deal. I was on board.
I make plans around Caps games, I kinda know the difference between back-checking and forechecking, still have no clue why there is a trapezoid behind the net or why certain plays can or cannot occur there… but I will figure it out (I taught myself how to officially keep score for baseball games after all ). And the actual hilarious part of all of this is…. my old Condo…. was right next store to the Piney Orchard Ice Rink… where the CAPS used to practice (I did go once… but more often than not I was just annoyed at all the CAPS fans that blocked the turn lanes when parking filled up 
)
And Last Friday…. I went to my first playoff Hockey Game. A neighbor had emailed a bunch of people early in the week asking who was in …. I of course said I was. We were up in the nosebleeds (again)… but it was awesome. The Caps lost and I’m not really gonna go into the actual game… cause its over and time to move on. But the sound of the puck passing, and the clacking of the sticks does not generate on TV…. even in HD…..
So…. I’ll be back
